My name is Castiel. I am an angel of the Lord. I've been around here for a while, but... I still have problems with understanding humans. I must admit that they... fascinate me.

Her eyes widened and she grinned, “Really? That’s awesome! Could you? Or d’you not wanna?” She asked tentatively, still not sure how far she could go with this whole thing without being too nosey.

“Oh, uh, I’m just pretty good at looking after myself.” She gave a shrug, chickening out. She’d explain when they got to her apartment, she told herself, unsure why it was such a big deal for her to tell him.

Castiel simply nodded when she mentioned she was good at looking after herself. “Sounds like a handy ability,” he added shortly.

Then she suggested he’d show his wings. “Sure,” he said as they finally got upstairs. He stopped walking and let go off her hand, then took a few steps away from her. “Just give me two seconds” He had to put a little more effort to it now that he wasn’t entirely sober, but after said seconds had passed, the lights started flickering, then the shadow of his wings appeared behind him on the wall. After that the electricity went off, making the building rather dark. “Oh… I forgot about that,” he muttered.

“It can be,” she replied, watching him step back with interest. Her head snapped up to look at the landing light as it flickered, confusion marring her features until she looked back to Castiel. Her eyes widening, she took a small step back and let out a tiny noise of surprise. Jenna thought she’d believed him before, but it only just then sank in that he really was an angel.

Clearing her throat, she let out a small, shaky laugh. “Great, well at least my floor is the one above. Someone’ll be out to fix it soon, anyway.” Shaking her head, she let out a deep breath, and pulled out her phone to light the stairs. “You know, I figured they’d be tiny and white, like in the pictures.” Tentatively, she reached out and grabbed his hand again, pulling him up the next set of stairs even more carefully than before- it was dark now, and she didn’t want the angel to fall and break his neck or something.

"Tiny, not so much. But they are white… Though I don’t think it’ll be a good idea to show you that.” Castiel said with a short laugh, then glanced down at the stairs as they kept walking. “It’d be the last thing you’d ever see…” he added silently.

Just after saying that, he got a little dizzy, so he closed up on Jenna and leaned onto her, partly to support himself so he wouldn’t fall, partly to rest his head that felt like it was spinning onto her shoulder.

“Oh, you can smile all you want. Either way it’s not me who’s gonna spend the next hours screaming and begging for my life like a little brat” Crowley said and poked her on her nose with the edge of the knife blade. “It’s you.” He snapped his fingers and a burn started growing slowly from her ankles and  up her legs. “Just let me know when you’ve had enough.”

It really didn’t take longer than three seconds before Crowley felt a hand being placed on his shoulder and instinctively turned around only to see a familiar face he had hoped he’d not see for at least thirty more minutes. “Castiel… Back already?” Crowley said with a trying smile, though he already knew he’d lost this round. With the angel’s powers back it wasn’t worth it. Even if he knew Castiel wasn’t strong enough to kill him, he wouldn’t take the risk.

Castiel let go of the demons shoulder the second he turned around. “I will only say this once Crowley. Stop whatever it is you’re doing and let Storm go.”

With the red flames crawling all over her legs, Storm was clouded with immense pain. Her deathly pale hands squirmed under the vines along with her broad shoulders. The night spirits eyes bulged with pain and she gasped, screams threatening to crumble from her mouth.

She was dimly aware of the new arrival of some one else. It sounded like Castiel, she hoped. Storm felt the heat rising, tearing through her black pants and eating at her skin.

Crowley waited a few more seconds while he looked Castiel in his eyes with a rather displeased look before rolling his eyes. “Fine,” he said and snapped his fingers again, making the flames go away. “But don’t think I’ll give up that easy just because I’m letting the spirit go. I’ll find the boys one way or another.”

Castiel ignored the demon and went over to Storm and started untying her from the chains that’d kept her locked to the chair. “I’m sorry it took a while before I came.” he said and finally got her loose from the chains. He glanced down at her legs - the burnmarks was far from pretty. He placed his hands carefully onto the burnt skin on her legs and healed them.

Jenna stayed quiet for a moment, thinking. There were many,

manyquestions she wanted to ask, and didn’t really know where to start. “Uh, lots of things. Like, aren’t you guys supposed to have wings? Or is that just part of the myth?” She figured she’d start with the easy, superficial questions, and was perhaps a little scared about the answer to some of the deeper ones.

At that, Jenna grinned. “I’m pretty good at helping myself in those situations. But yes, not fun.” She was unsure whether to tell him about her abilities, so decided to wait until it comes up in conversation. She began climbing the stairs slowly, keeping an eye on him.

“We have wings, yes. I could make their shape appear as a shadow if I’d like,” Castiel said with a tiny smile, completely forgetting to mention that it’d probably end up leaving the entire floor in darkness as the lights would most likely be damaged.

He looked curiously at her when she mentioned that while they started to go up the stairs slowly, step by step. “How come?” He would’ve imagined it was pretty difficult to help oneself if first falling down stairs. If he’d been less wasted he would probably have noticed that something with her was different, but right now that was the last thing he could think of.

Her expression remained a frown, as a couple questions popped into her head. “Does he st- in fact, I think I’d rather not know.” She gave a small shrug- if the answers we’re negative, she knew it’d play on her mind, so not knowing was the safest option.

“Yup, the amount of times I’ve nearly fell down those stairs… totally not fun.” Jenna grinned, leading them into the lobby and heading toward the stairs. He didn’t seem too unsteady, so she doubted she’d actually have to stop him falling.

He nodded understandingly. “Okay, then what do you want to know?” he asked her, following her into the building and to the stairs.

“Obviously not, as it’s both painful and sometimes dangerous,” he said, smiling shortly. He wasn’t really that dizzy at the moment, so he didn’t think he’d actually end up falling either. But even so, he still held onto her hand, just in case.

She spluttered out a laugh, surprise bright in her eyes. “What?”

Maybe this guy was crazy….

He sighed and almost rolled his eyes by her reaction. Why did people always had such a hard time believing in angels when they believed in nearly everything else? “It’s true. I can prove it to you if you want.”

“I… um… no thanks.” He had healed her after all, and that should have been evidence enough. But still. And ANGEL? He didn’t look like the stereotypical angel or the ones her mom had talked about… but then again, her mom had been wrong about a lot of things.

Castiel just shrugged his shoulders, looking at her for a few seconds, then glanced out the window again. It was obvious she didn’t quite believe him. But he didn’t really care. If she didn’t want to believe him, he wasn’t gonna make her either. There was no point in doing that after all.

“A… human vessel? You mean like you’ve possessed a guy?” She frowned as she spoke, not liking the sound of that at all.

Her building came into view as she dragged him around the next corner. “Here we are,” she gestured to the building with her free hand, smiling as he finished her sentence. “Yup, precisely. I’m only on the second floor up, and I won’t let you drunkenly fall down the stairs or anything.” Se assured, partly joking.

“Yes. He gave me permission to… Begged for me to do it, actually. Just to save his daughter.” At the time Castiel really didn’t understand why anyone would do that. After all it meant not going to Heaven nor Hell after dying. But in time he’d learned that sometimes family is more valuable.

He took a short look at the building, then smiled when she mentioned falling down the stairs. “That’s good to know.”
